Teaching Based on Theories of Intrinsic Motivation
Most human behaviors are driven by external rewards such as getting a paycheck, receiving recognition, etc. But, how do you motivate yourself without such things? How do you teach intrinsic motivation when you don’t operate like that as an adult? This session will allow participants to discover their own intrinsic motivation and use it to design delivery of instruction that are challenging, interesting, and internally rewarding. Activities embedded with goals that address basic psychological needs for autonomy, competence, and relatedness. Participants will collaborate on tasks that are engaging and promote intrinsic motivation.
