A Step by Step Guide to Student Success in the Classroom
Have you experienced in the last two years an increase in student need for learning recovery support to access special and general education curriculum? Is there a need to create or adjust existing accommodations for students to increase their engagement to retain information? During “Accommodations Unpacked,” we will discuss, individualize, and practice specific accommodations through case studies and small group activities for students with and without identified disabilities. Case studies will include examples of accommodations for core curriculum, physical education, and sensory transitions for multiple grade levels. Participants in “Accommodations Unpacked” will interact with one another through short case studies to practice accommodations introduced during the workshop. At the end of the workshop, participants will leave with 3-5 new student accommodation strategies to implement immediately in classrooms and within school sites. In addition, participants will receive a resource list of accommodations provided through CAASPP, special education information systems including SIRAS, and best practice resources/sites. A wide range of abilities will be discussed including students with specific learning disabilities, students with autism, students with mild/moderate disabilities, and general education students experiencing learning loss/recovery.
