Join us for a screening of the documentary Eyes on the Prize: Hallowed Ground, introduced by CTA Board Member Erika Jones. The screening will be followed by panel discussion moderated by Esperanza Martinez, parent/community organizer, Community Schools coach, and featuring: Cecily Myart-Cruz, UTLA President Dr. Salina Gray, (W)holistic Science author and science teacher Kathy Masaoka, API ally and advocate for racial and social justice Donny Sykes, entertainer With this screening and panel, we hope to set a tone of hope, resilience, and joy for the conference. The documentary brings forth the importance of love and healing as part of the struggle for racial and social justice. The members of the panel are purposefully chosen to center the narrative around the experiences of those most marginalized by the system, with the goal of making their stories of healing a source of inspiration and validation for all educators.
